Educate me please about H/C
I did all the search possible and still can't get some answers.
I want to upgrade my H/C
I want the MS4 cam, but don't know what Heads to buy with it. I have about $2,000 to play around with for the whole package including gaskets, chain and oil pump.
So far what I found out is that with the MS4 cam there are some clearance issues with the valves and the pistons. Something about "ptv contact on MS4" what the heck is PTV? is it Piston Touching Valves?
Is it smart to have a stock bottom end?
My goal is to Run mid 11's N/A and Mid 10's on spray.
My current mods are:
Stage 1 p&p 98 heads
227/227 cam
3600 stall
12 bolt with 3.73's
Suspension done (lca, tq arm..ect) except shocks
150 shot NX system.
6pt roll cage
and other bolt ons.
With the spray i did 11.1 @ 120 mph with 1.47 60ft.
I want to go faster.
thanks for any input.Last edited by FSANE; 09-23-2007 at 12:15 AM.

How about some stage 2 LS6 heads and a mid 230 duration cam along with a FAST 90/90 combo? I would think that they would put you in mid 11's pretty consistently N/A. Assuming you already have all the supporting mods headers, etc.

hmmm, you'd be hard pressed to get everything for a h/c swap for 2k. but if you can, awesome. yeah the ms4 is big enough that you are more than probably going to have to flycut your pistons due to PTV (piston to valve) clearance. if you don't flycut them, you pistons will probably hit your valves...ouch. hmm, that cam with a decent set of heads will get you somewhere around 450 rwhp. if you still spray on top of that, i would be worried about your bottom end. i would atleast make it a progressive shot and toss in a set of katech rod bolts to your bottom end. even with that, i'm not sure how long she'll hold up.

Blue- 2002 Z28 Camaro M6
Once you start using something like a thicker gasket you are going to lose compression and maybe even negate the benefits of such a big cam. (just my first thought on that subject, sure there are some there with actual experience in this)
