MP3 player on a Monsoon
Does anyone know of an aftermarket kit to adapt the stock Monsoon system to accept an MP3 player?
I tried the Monster wireless (FM modulation) kit and it is unacceptable. Way too much static and station bleedover. I'm looking for a way to hard wire into the system.

I am going to stop by a car audio shop tonight to get an AUX input for the factory monsoon head-unit so I can use my MP3 player. The AUX input plugs into a the 9-pin AUX which is used for a factory remote tape deck or a cd changer. I'll keep you posted and let you know if it works.

You can do it yourself for under $5, and a little knowledge. It does involve opening up the HU itself and tapping into a few wires - if you feel comfortable doing that, look over on CZ28 or LS1Tech for a writeup by user 'Jason Novak'.

PAC makes a unit that costs about $60 to install. It plugs into the factory HU in the back. But you do need a working CD changer or a working cassette at the same time you use the aux unit.
I would like to see the write up about opening the head-unit and doing the install for $5.... but I can't find it...

You need a working CD or cassette for all of them (unless aftermarket).
Here is the link -- just 'Advanced Search' and type username 'Jason Novak' --

Shouldn't give you any problems -- it's very straight forward and easily reversible; but post up if you have any troubles. He ended up mounting the AUX input on the front of the Delco HU -- if you want a less permanent looking place, maybe in the ashtray area? -or cut a hold in that little holder thing that fits cell phones perfectly and pull a wire through that -- or even just let it hang under the dash and kinda reach under and pull the wire out when you want to use it (yea, more sloppy feeling but at least no permanent defacing if you wish to avoid that).........of course those are just 3 ideas to consider out of many.
