Credit Card offers
I get tons of offers weekly in my mail. I rip them in two and toss them out. Lately I've got to thinking ,with all this identity theft going on, should I run them through my shredder as opposed to just tossing them?
They obviously have my name on them. Is it possible to open a line of credit w/o my ss#?
Just curious as to what my fellow LS1'ers do.

I shred mine just in case!
But I am sure that these companies that send these out would be responsible if someone got a card in your/my name and used it!

Tear everything up except the business paid envelope they stick in there. Put it all in the envelope and mail it back to them.

I also shred everything that has my name and or address or both on it. ITs getting WAY too easy nowa days.

I burn mine, keeps the garage warm in winter! I have heard of places accepting forms that were torn up and taped together!

There was a documentary about this on TLC(the learning channel)about six months ago. Some guy targeted apartment buildings, and went through garbage cans and obtained all these credit card offers. He literally sent in hundreds a week, used an abandoned apartment for an address, and got away with over 500,000 worth of credit using the thrown away offers. The mail lady was also charged in cooperating with him, after several months of doing this!the amount of credit was small, with credit limits only allowed up to 300.00-500.00 dollars, but he amassed his money, with the volume of cards he received! They actually showed the entire process on how he did it,to make people aware of how easy it actually is to do.He was ordered as part of his sentencing,to make people aware of credit fraud,to go around to speak, and to make public appearances in schools,businesses,etc....actually,he had a pretty good system..only if he would have put his creativity to use doing something legal....lol...but yes..always shread credit card offers,etc..and dispose of them properly.....

Silver- Mexican killed my car
I use the prepaid envelopes that come with them and send Capital One's offer to American Express and American Express's offer to Capital One. Sometimes i put a drawing of my penis in it.

I keep all mine in a drawer. Getting mail makes me feel loved... I read them when I'm lonely.

Shred it. Take the prepaid envelopes that they send and tape it to a brick. Mail said brick with prepaid envelope! You'll never hear from them again! Works for me everytime!
