am I paying too much
Im buying a 98 ws6 6sp 78,000 miles uhh ttops lthr all that stuff. front bumper has some pretty big scrapes on the paint...that will need to be repainted. Sounds like a wheel bearing or somthing is going out in the back passenger wheel and of course a super slow passenger window. Im paying 10,000 and i feel the car is worth that much to me but was just wondering how much yal think i should be paying

Sounds a little high. Check here on www.kbb.com it books for a little over $9,000. That sound in the rear is not a wheel bearing. It may be gear whine, very stressed axles it is really hard to say. Something to think about you are looking at about 5-600 dollars to fix the bumper. Window motor when it goes out, I would imagine around 150. If the rear end has a problem you could be looking at over a grand to fix. One thing I have learned when looking for a vehicle be patient and take the time to shop around. Eventually the right one will pop up. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

window motor is about 50 bucks if you do it yourself.. The rear could just be if they put in after market gears??? Some gears will kidna howl at ya. Umm.. around here they are hard to find and people pay out the ass for them so 10,000 sounds like a good price if it were around here.

I really like the car alot and I kind of feel if I dont get it than I will end up with a z28 or somthing...I dont have any expierneces with these noises so I may be wrong but its not really a whine its more like a whirring noise that seems to go with the rotation of the back tire so I guess it could be somthing with the axle or somthing. hope not.

I think it's a bit much. I'd be in the $8500 - $9000 range myself. I bought my 6 spd SS vert for $10,500 with 70k on it. Just an opinion.

Is $10k the asking price? If so, you can always get him down some.
I just bought a 99 Camaro SS, Hurst 6-speed, leather, 47,k miles for $12,000.

10,000 is actully what we agreed on. He was at 11200 and i was shooting for 9500. we are taking it to a mechanic and checking out that noise to see how serious it is.

I'am not sure why people here are so quick to rule out a bad wheel (axle) bearing. Thats the only thing I've had a problem with on my rear end. Started to howl at 60K. Some what simple and cheap fix(if caught early, else you have to replace axles from pitting). But with no simptoms posted, I don't understand how people can say its not the wheel bearing and that its gear whine?
Also a axle bearing seems to get louder around corners. hard right and its louder, drivers side, louder on a hard left, pass side.

I'd let it go and keep lookin. The seller started out at $13k when I bought it. I let him sit on it for awhile and gave him my number. He claimed to have an offer of $12k but said he had his doubts it would go thru. I offered $10,500 and showed him the money when he called. Not a smokin deal but not too bad either.

Black- 98 T/A
I paid $10,800 in 2002 for a 99 T/A 56k miles 6 speed. No issues other than blown speakers. Paint was an 8, interior was an 8 and had an SLP LM exhaust installed. Also came with a new $300 radar detector and brand new tires.
Yes, very overpriced.

I wouldn't sell my base model TA for any less than $10k. Mine is clean though. No dents dings, has 71k now it's also slightly modded and I had the tranny rebuilt because I was putting in a torque converter. Just made sense to rebuild while it was already down. I kept my car as clean and better maintained than the day I bought it. That is just me though

I bought my car with 37k in 02 for $14,500.
His sounds like it's a little rough though. I think $10k is a bit much for a 98 that has some visable issues. I'd keep looking around.

A little high. Keep looking and take your time. Shop around look at autotrader.com even if you have to drive a couple hours to get a good deal. I drove 5 hours away to pick mine up. good luck.
