Pulled front wheels off the ground.. then had to put out the fire..
So i pretty much put it all in the title for yall lol. I went down to the crappy lil local track down here with alot of people that i work with and since i was turning the best time out of all of us i was of course showing off and finally got my front wheels off the ground on 3 different passes. On that third pass however the old t/a finally met her fate. After over 200 lbs of nitrous going through that engine putting the stock crappy ass intake back on finally did her in. it was so scrunched up in between the throttle body and mass airflow that i was puddleing fuel pretty bad and then a small backfire in the intake sent everything in between the airbox and intake manifold up in flames. I burnt up the wire harnesses to the mass airflow sensor, the throttle body sensor and the airbox sensor. I also melted the intake tube real bad and charred up the nitrous lines. I ended up drivng it the 25 miles home but the idle is very erractic and at about 2200 rpms so it wasnt a fun ride home. Engine is still just fine though so hopefully it wont be too bad to fix..

it wasnt the fault of the nitrous.. i had my rev limiter set to 6800 rpms so the valve springs just didnt close up on time and backfired a lil through bthe intake.. im just going to this local junk yard and grab the throttle body i need and cut the harness off one and splice it into mine.

Nitrous is safe but going past the 150 shot is like going from garden snakes to King Cobras....you better have your game together. Pulling the wheels off the ground has cost me a couple of oil pans and lots of front end/chassis parts over the years....but I'll be damned if it ain't fun as hell ain't it...

ok finally got somewhere with it. I got off work and seperated all the connectors from the sensors and cleaned them out. Then i pull all the wires apart and taped all of them off and put it all back together. Then found out it would die out after just a second of running really erratically. Pulled the engine sensors fuse and took all off them out of the loop and the car ran just fine. Next I went over to a friends house to grab his old stock intake tube since mine was torched and grabbed his mass air flow sensor just to make sure that wasnt it. the second we pulled the airbox off however we realized that the screen and wires were blown right out of the MAF sensor. put the other one on and now it runs like a champ again minus a tranny shifting problem i gotta figure out. Gotta love the durability of an LS1...
