'02 WS6 vs '98 Cobra
A guy at work saw my car and said "I'll take ya in my '98 Cobra." I said ok, you can try, just to be a smart ass. Looked up the specs of both tonight, and saw that the cobra is about 100 pounds lighter, 40 lbs less torque, 25-30 less hp but could do the 1/4 in .7 secs faster? That shouldn't be right should it? It doesn't really matter as his cobra blew up the starter and he needs to replace that to get it back running. Was just curious.

Should be a fairly decent race with you pulling a little up top.

If so you should be fine.

If so...stall converter.

Plans possibly later on down the road... want to make sure I can afford the payments first.. lol. This is the first car I have really had to do payments on, and the first one I have gone through a dealership for (even though It was from a private seller, to get the 5 1/2 year loan I had to get the dealership to buy it from the guy and sell it to me). Like I said, I am VERY happy with the purchase, only thing is the braking issues so far. When I get a chance, I'm going to price out what new front rotors and pads will run me. I was told a transmission cooler is almost a must have as well.. that true? What exactly does a stall converter do? (I thought those were only for manuals)

Stalls are only for autos.
They allow the motor to spin to a higher RPM while holding the brake and gas at the same time. They come in different speeds. They allow you to be in a better powerband when you launch.
Tranny cooler is a good idea!
Pads are $80 if you get the stock ones from a dealership. Many other options though.
If the rotors can be resurfaced they should be about $8 a rotor for resurfacing.

98 cobra's generally run around 14.0's, my buddies 96 cobra which is the same car ran 14.20's all day. So you should not have a problem especially top end. Its those 03-04 cobras you better watch out for

Found out today his is a sticksshift.. he says he thought he was told it was 320hp.. but I dunno... either way I think I'd have him..if and when we would ever try....
Whats a decent tranny cooler cost and where/how do I install it? Or should I have a pro do it?

Well.. had the dealership look the brakes over today...after they forgot about my car all day.. bastards... anyway, they fouunf both brake pads to be beyond dangerous levels, I think he said one caliper in the front was bad.. causing the steering wheel to turn while braking, the front pads are going, and the front rotors need machining... to the tune of 470 bucks.. <faints> Wouldn't you think the brakes would be something they would check on the SAFETY Inspections that they did 3 days ago??? I really hate people....

Does anyone else have problems with their signatures not posting??? Sometimes it does and sometimes I have to edit, paste it.. hit save..then its in there twice.. then edit it again, delete it and hit save again. Rather annoying.

Default doesn't have the box checked for the sig.
You need to check "Show your signature" for it to show.

Wonder if there is a feature that it only shows up once in a thread.
EDIT: Guess not.

Well.. according to the "inspection sheet" They checked the e-brake and the foot brakes... prob just made sure the brake pedal engaged the brakes.. which is cheapass... I mean $30 bucks isn't exactly cheap either...

Do your own brakes....You can get all new rotors and some good pads for less then they're charging for pads and turning the rotors
As far as the cobra...i've raced a 99 vert with intake/h-pipe and catback, I wasn't impressed at all. I couldn't hook for shit and I still had 2-3 cars on him just up to 70....and it was getting even uglier. But when modded those 4 valvers have some good top-end pull.
