whats next?

Coming into some funds soon, and am torn on what to do. Im leaning towards a FAST intake but that might not be the most expedient choice. Thoughts?

I can tell you with my buying experience in getting a FAST 102 is to budget for more than you think.

Intake I picked up for $900 from another member. He tossed in the LS2 fuel rail in as well. A LS1 will not work. Since you have a LS2 you can reuse yours. The intake comes with spacers in case you are using the EV1 fuel injectors.

Throttle body, I picked up a NW102. Very, very, very nice piece. That was $370
New gasket kit for the intake, not sure if they come with them in new kits.
Check your clearance with the cowl. I'm sure it will fit ok on a GTO but for a Trans Am it's a snug fit getting it under that cowl.

Tuning.....

I don't regret getting it, throwing it on even with the rod issue it was a noticeable difference on start up/idle. Can't wait till I'm up and it's tuned.

If it were me I'd throw a cam/springs at it before $1200-$1400 worth of intake.

A bigger cam is more of an undertaking than im ready for right this second. But the FAST seems about right. Is a bigger tb needed for the larger intake? And a tune is certainly required. Seems like a good power to dollar ratio compared to other things.

If you stick with a stock throttle body your kind of defeating the purpose of buying a bigger intake. You will pick up some hp since the flow characteristics are better on the 102. But the big thing is 102mm opening and using a stock throttle body will basically eliminate that bigger opening. Definitely won't be worth the 1k or more if you dont invest in the throttle body. Maryland speed I think usually runs a deal if you buy the 102 and nick Williams piece together.

For the 102 intake yes. It is a 4 bolt.

Here's my Nick Williams TB.

Also with a new one you have the option of running the map sensor up front like the LS2 or in the back like the LS1. Mine wasalready set up as the LS1, but if it was new it would be done as the LS2.

I agree with the larger throttlebody for the FAST 102.

Spray is always tempting, but i better not lol.

What would i be looking to gain with the intake/tb combo? I know it woukd be worth it either way, but it helps put everthing in perspective.

I would say about 20-30HP over the LS6. It's hard to say.

I just remember 2 more things if you do go with a 102 setup.

Recommend a FAST TOYS 104mm Airlid and either a SD tune or look at getting a 100mm MAF. The 85mm chokes the airflow down.

Will you put a converter in that thing already.....sheeesh

You'll spend twice as much on a FAST intake and it won't help the 1/4 mile times (or the fun street miles) as much as the converter will. It's a no brainer.

A good converter is a great addition to our cars. Our car dropped almost a half second in the quarter when I installed a 3,200 converter and Performabuilt transmission. If i had to do it all over again, I would have went with a 3,600, but ours is a good compromise between the street and track.

Be sure to add an aftermarket transmission cooler when you drop the new converter in. I also added a trans temp gauge (there is a port on the driver side of the transmission that accommodates the sender) to keep an eye on things.

I have everything i need for a transmission rebuild with cooler and all, just need advice on a stall. Im looking at a yank 3000. Is that between 3000-3200 or 3000 firm? Is this enough to make a difference? Where is the stock stall at?
