Aussie on the hunt for an LQ4/LQ9 6.0ltr in Chattanooga TN
Hi, I havn't been on here for a while, but I'm chasing an Iron block 6.0 ltr engine complete with all accessories, computer and loom. We didn't get any cast iron blocks in AUS. I will be travelling to the USA around November this year Chattanooga TN to be exact and was just wondering if there's anyone on here from TN that could point me in the right direction of salvage/wrecking yards or good used engine vendors that specialise in Vortec or Truck wrecking. I plan on rebuilding the engine with a stroker crank and LS3 heads and intake with possibly a boosted combo in the future. Thanks in advance. MICK.

I like to use LKQ. A nationally recognized wrecking company over here that is in just about every state in the country.
A nice feature is that you can request a certain mileage and year and if they don't have it at the local LKQ, they can find it at another facility and ship it in. With a planned trip and probably limited time while you're here, this sounds like your best option. You could even check their website and call ahead to arrange it if needed.

Are you looking for just a core (the block)?
Summit is selling 408 blocks for around $700. Might be a better plan.

check out James Short in Kentucky. He's a LSX tuner/builder and I'm pretty sure he had a few for sale recently. Shouldnt be too far from where you will be.
I'll poke around and see if I can find anybody in Central or Eastern Tennessee that has one for sale and post what I find.

Thanks for the prompt replies guys, I will follow up those leads, I don't know how far Kentucky is from Chattanooga but il look it up, I should be in the US for 4weeks so I'm confident I can nail down a bargain to bring home, maybe even 2, I'd love to bring back 2x6.0s or even 1x6.0 & 1x5.3, they would have to be both complete tho with all accessories wiring looms and computers, mileage is ok as I plan to rebuild them but good condition would be nice. Thanks again. MICK .
