    Thumbs up #3 is back!

    Y! SPORTS

I'm happy to see #3 back on the track! I, admittedly, was never much a fan of Sr., but there's no denying how big his impact was, and still is, in NASCAR.

man...I was at the 500 when he died...I was at the Pepsi 400 the same year when Jr won the 2nd race at Daytona that year...its weird seeing the #3 back on the track BUT being on the pole for the Daytona 500 is the perfect spot for the #3 if its going to be back on the track.

I had no plans to watch daytona this year.....with the 3 on the track though it'll be hard to miss it. I was a 3 fan and when he died so did my interest in nascar. I'll try it again and see if having the 3 to root for will get my interest back in it.

for me at least he doesn't automatically get my support the same way Jr didn't. If he sucks ( like Jr) I have no problems moving on. The sport has changed so I doubt I'll ever get back into it but I'd like too. I hate the fact the drivers are all just out of diapers and none of them have any character. They're all PR reps.

I hate what they did to the chase this year...its stupid. nascar is slowly turning into the NFL. They keep changing things that need to be left the hell alone...

I haven't watch any of it the last few years, but I agree with 0rion. I had got to where I enjoyed watching the trucks more than the Sprint Cup. And Austin Dillion was one of my favorites.

I don't mind the chase, or at least the way it was in years past. Before the chase, nobody outside the top ten would have been anywhere near the championship anyway, so it did make those last ten races a bit more interesting. This year they're turning it into a sudden-death sort of thing. They keep trying to change it so someone besides Johnson will win, but he just keeps kicking all their asses. I hope he wins 8 or more, just to piss off all the Earnhardt and Petty fans (I liked Earnhardt, Petty not so much)

As far as Dillon is concerned, I'm with Kevin Harvick And someone needs to tell him to stop wearing that ridiculous fucking shitkicker hat.

that late in the season should anyone outside the top 10 have a shot at the championship? Sudden death is good on paper but what happens when you're in that last race and some worthless ass driver like Danica Patrick wrecks someone? Nascar is looking in the wrong areas to try to improve their sport. It's all about the racing and they just keep making it worse every year. I know Texas and California put a lot of money into their facilities but the racing at those tracks is pathetic. I remember when Michigan and Pocono sucked but they're more exciting than California and Texas. Vegas, Chicago, and Kansas are on that list too. Boring ass races. Need more short tracks and less mile and a half tracks where they ride around in a circle. People like Jimmy Johnson love those tracks because it takes next to no skill to win at those....it's all car set up. What's Johnson's record at Bristol where driver talent matters?

I'm with you, except that you don't think Johnson has the talent. JJ may not be the most talented driver out there (top five for sure though IMO), but he absolutely has the best combination of equipment, talent, crew chief, and overall team. He's one of the best at communicating what his car is doing and having the right changes made to fix it.

quite a few...seems like he gets suspended for a race or 2 every year. The one I remember that was interesting was Michael Waltrip's crew chief like 4-5years ago...if I remember correctly they had a reservoir somewhere under the hood with jet fuel in it and it was connected to the intake in some form or another...it basically allowed the car to sip jet fuel and the fumes while it was going around the track.

How is anyone outside of the top 10 or 12 whatever it is any closer to the championship than before the chase?

Do you even remember the things they got caught on? It was all things they were pushing the limits on. All the teams do that. They haven't done anything as deliberate as Penske did last year (or was it the year before) with the trailing arms and rear suspension pickups.

What? Are you arguing just for the sake of arguing or what? They're not any closer, hence why under the chase they're eliminated from contention. The top ten (then 12) though are much closer. It gives more guys a shot, but with ten races in the chase, the cream still has a tendency to rise to the top, i.e consistency over ten races still counts.

If it was possible (and it probably just isn't), it'd be good to have a "lottery", of sorts, to determine which tracks the last 10 races will take place. Since it's always the same 10 locations for the Chase, it'd be a nice mix up, so that it's a surprise where they're racing.

speaking of ole Jimmie...anybody see the 2nd Budweiser Duel last night? It doesnt look like anybody hit Johnson...I think he got just close enough to his bumper that it spun him around because of the air. Im guessing Jimmie ran out of gas going into the final turn?

The 500 should be interesting...I would stay the hell away from Jimmie in that race...he has seriously wrecked in just about every race @ Daytona so far this year...

yeah...he ran out of gas and tried flagging the other drivers but it was too late. He did apologize to the other racers and even one of them (forget who but I think Truex) during an interview which was a classy move. I still don't like him though. 5.0 is entitled to his opinion and it's not off base.....I just don't like JJ. Never have and never will....same goes for Gordon.
