Black- 1986 Chevy K10
Paint Prep
I am currently restoring a 1986 Chevy K10 pickup and i am at the stage where I will soon be painting. I have done some painting before but I am facing a new challenge. The clear on the roof is starting to peel and I'm not sure hot to go about fixing it. I am not worried about harming the base color as I will be repainting the entire truck with Dupont 99 black. Do I have to sand the entire roof or can i sand and feather the areas where the clear is pealing?

Sand the whole roof. If you could remove the clear off with a blade or something is slot better. Then sand it with 600 gritt.
If you paint over the old clear it could peel off in the future.
Sand it all real good. Then primer it. Sand again and is ready for paint. Make sure you use the same brand on the clear coat
