So im thinkin bout a project car.....
I found a 89 Firebird, v6, lotta miles, body work need a bumper, driver fender, and possible hood, all glass is good, interior is shakey but decent, give it a 6 of 10, new tires, trans rebuilt 200 miles ago, new battery, but heres the kickers
The guy selling it doesnt really know much about it, it was his step daughters, but what i gathered it may need a right side axle but already has the part with it so i was told, which might not be that big of a deal, but it doesnt run, it has been sitting awhile but they been starting it off and on, she worked out a deal with a dealership on trade, but went to start it, it started knocked a little bit and died, after that i guess it wont crank over....
My questions to you guys are do you think itd be worth it, shes asking only 300 bucks pry take 200 cash but still its deff gonna be a project, what do you think is wrong with the motor?
How hard would a v8 swap into it be?
other stuff to look for?

I'd just replace the engine then fix that 2.8. V8 swaps aren't too difficult

Sounds like a decent candidate for a swap. Could probably find a cheap 5.3 to swap in. I know lots have done ls swaps but I don't know all that is required for the swap. Is it an auto or manual?

its an auto, I mean really it doesnt sound like too bad of a deal but ive never done a full Fuel Injected swap

With a complete harness and a wiring diagram it shouldn't be that bad at all.
Plus being so many have done it all the r&d has all been done making it even easier

Firebird would be more rewarding in the long run IMO.

Motor is prolly hosed.. Can't use any of the running gear for a v8 swap unless it's a northstar with a 60 degree v6 bell pattern.
Work cut out for you..lol
Personally I'd look into a 3800, 3900, or 3.6 dohc swap. 10 and up Camaro 3.6 has more hp than a 5.3 and any of the afore mentioned v6's will bolt right up to your current bell housing.

Honestly though, unless you really plan on projecting the car I would just replace the motor it has and run it.
imho Not worth dumping a bunch money into with a rough body and interior otherwise.
Nor is the eclipse.
