Rock out with your Glock out

Going to pick up a Glock 23 tonight. This will be my 3rd .40, as I already have a S&W compact tactical, and a H&K USP.

Went with the desert tan.

Next question... does anyone carry a .45? If so, what kind. Or should I just get a 1911 and be done with it? Or say fuck it and get a Deagle?

I carry a Glock 21SF on duty. Excellent gun. A little large but it gets the job done.

The 23 is an excellent choice, as well. I owned one back about eleven years ago.I miss that gun

I like the concealability of the 23. My S&W is a compact, but it is a thick little bastard. And I'm really liking the 13 round clip.

Tomb Raider style. I'd personally like to have a 1911, I don't even have any pistols, just rifles and shotty ...not sure what my dad has left lying around. May try and deal with him sometime...

Springfield Armory makes a nice 1911. There are plenty of other manufacturers out there like Colt and Kimber (not to mention companies like S&W and Sig, which have begun to delve into the 1911 market over the past few years). If you're feeling frisky with your wallet, go with a Wilson Combat or Les Baer

Dual wield Eagles... that would be the best thing ever. No one fucks with the guy with 2 Eagles.

I'll check out the SA tonight because I know he has one. Didn't Remington just start making one as well?

Remington came out with the R1 line up recently. The basic R1 goes anywhere from 650-750 and the R1 enhanced goes for 850-999

Springfield Armory made a nice 1911 several years back that I really liked. One of my co-workers at the time had one. It was a two-tone pistol with night sights, ambi safety and some other goodies for $750.

Rock river is new to the 1911 market, but if its up to par with their ARs, id buy it any day of the week.

to me a .40 is just as effective and fun as a .45, and cheaper...loaded clips are also lighter.

Well that depends how many rounds each clip holds.

I like .40, I have over 20,000 rounds through my xdm .40 but I have to say I get back on target faster with a .45acp. The .40 s&w really does have a snap to it like most people say and I agree. Although I do feel confident with my xdm as I carry it all the time.

well yeah, i was referring to comparable clip sizes....10 rounds of .40 is lighter than 10 rounds of .45ACP

I'd rather carry 40 over 45. 40 offers equal one shot stop data (although that measure is at best flawed) to 45, while offering increased penetration and capacity. Enjoy your 23 Andy. I have a 22, and a 27 for concealed carry. As far as the 1911 goes, they're great guns that have stood the test of time well, and have a definite cult following. That said, they are boat anchors, and honestly, there are just newer better designs out there these days. And unless you get a double stack, they're low on capacity.

If I was to ever buy a 1911, it wouldn't be for concealed carry. Basically just to have, or keep in my truck on long drives etc.

I'm a firm believer in the .40's, hence the reason this is my 3rd one. The selling point on the Glock was it's durability and capacity for me. Maybe I'll get 2 so I can duel wield?

I prefer the 1911 to almost any other semi-auto handgun. When I shoot with friends I can pick up one of there 1911s and shoot better than I can with there glocks, no doubt. Different guns fit different people better but for me I do not really see to many designs for a straight shooting semi-auto better than the 1911. Sure there are guns that hold more ammo but for pure shooting accuracy 1911 for me works great. The hand grip design is loved so much that a few manufactures copy it and use it on non-1911 guns. There make great CCW guns as they can be had in compact as well and even the full size frames are thinner than glocks and XDs because of the single stack design.

When I do get a 1911 it won't be my main carry gun but I will carry it during colder weather months. I like to carry my compacts for obvious reasons and my .40 XDM for the ability to hold 16 in a clip.

Another reason I like Glocks, Magazine interchangeability with the various sizes. I carry a 29 (subcompact 10MM) and use the 29 mags (10 rounds) for something smallish to carry but also have G20 mags (15 rounds) with spacers that give it a full grip for range time or just when I want to add 5 rounds to the magazine capacity. 1911's are great but I prefer a glock anyday for a workhorse. Everyone I know with Kimbers only use them at the range, they carry Glock.

Caliber wise I carry 10MM the wife carries .40 but my next purchase will be .45. While my 10 blows the .45 away and the .40 is capable, .45 is just proven that's why it garners the support it does. I would have pushed for her to carry a .45 but the G27 fit her better than the G30 or 31 which is more important to me than caliber. .40 was a plus for me because I can load .40 or 10mm with the same dies and my G29 can shoot .40 as is easily but I still would prefer good ol .45 to .40 unless it was going the same speeds as it was designed to from the start not a compromise.

Oh and why waste money on a Eagle, big, cumbersome, low capacity. You could probably get 2 shots from something smaller by the time you bring those big fuggers to bear.
