E-cutout wiring help

So I was scrolling through a bunch of threads talking about cutout wiring and I thought I gathered enough info to tackle it on.. WRONG. I spent 3 hours in the hot AZ sun trying to figure this damn thing out and I still couldn't!!! I really need all your help..

I have the Borla catback system and I'm putting the DMH ecutout where the passenger side restrictor plates go. I have no idea what to do about the wiring... I took apart the entire interior on the right side of the car, and in the trunk, hoping to find a hole somewhere, and I still can't find out where I can slip the wiring from the outside to the inside for the switch and power..Does anybody have any pictures that would be helpful? Or maybe explain to me how I can get that wire to go from practically the muffler to the center console area??

there should be a few black grommet plugs on the floor pan of your car just make a small slit or incision in one and run the wiring through thats how i got my wideband controller wiring through and even driving in the rain you shouldnt have any water getting in. i currently have no pics and its 102 degrees so im not going out to take pics right now

Depending on how far back it is most run it threw the plug near the rear passenger seat. I plan on installing mine right there since the cutout itself will be close to it.

I have no idea where the restrictor plate is on a Borla system. This is the DMH cutout in our car and you can see the wiring installed through the rear passenger seat floor pan grommet:

Only thing I added after the pic was some heat reflective tape over the wiring.

Do you have a single CO off the y-pipe? Or is that just one side?

Not sure if you are asking the question to me, or the OP? My car has a single cutout on the Magnaflow catback mid-pipe. It was custom fabbed as I wasn't real happy with the pipe I purchased along with the DMH cutout.

Rob I do remember seeing a black rubber plug under the passenger seat carpet..So I can puncture that thing? and if so I can just run it up there, through to the right side (from the door) than to my middle console, where i have to pass my glove compartment? Or can I straight up go from the hole straight to the console?

Raynor which plug are you talking about? I took off the right rear seat and didn't see anything I could wire through..

That's on the other side of the axle. I would probably make a hole in the spare tire well or somewhere else back in that area that would allow for a grommet to be installed so as to protect the wiring from the metal edge of the hole. No right or wrong answer on this one -- just think it through for your wire run so that it is protected from heat and moving suspension parts before drilling. Also, make sure you have access to both sides of the hole and that you are not drilling into anything accidentally.

There are plugs in the spare tire well, you can just slice one and run the wires through there and into the car.

Thanks ,Yeah i have the Magnaflow cat-back But my Y-pipes are Kooks I wasnt sure if i am going to go single Cut outs or dual ? One each on back of my cats. Is DMH the brand you have ? and what do you think about Dougs electric cut-outs?

I went with DMH after a couple of members on here recommended that over a QTP cutout. It has worked great now for 2 years and sees constant use both on the street and at the track. I also run Kooks LT's and catted-Y up front. Elected to go with a single cutout for simplicity and to dump the fumes more towards the back of the car.

What would I do without you guys? I found a black grommet right under the spare tire, which is extremely helpful! thanks a bunch.

Turns out the guys at the store I ordered it from gave me much less wire than I asked for

it barely makes it up past the passenger side door. SO, I will have to get wire extenders or e-mail them for a new thing of wire or something..

In the meantime, any help on how I can sneak up the wire from where the passenger door hinges are to the center console? I can get it up to the door but than I don't know how to get it to there.

Should be able to go behind the kick panel and then behind the glove box with the wiring. I would simply splice in a section of wire to make the run. It does not have to be all one piece so long as you have a good connection at the splice. I ran my wiring under the carpeting to the center console.

That's actually what I thought about doing Jeff. Just make it run under the carpet right after the pass. seat directly to the center console? does that work well? as far as ease of installation goes..

I'll most likely splice up the wire, its just more time I really don't want to spend on this project lol

Worked great - just loosened the mounting bolts for the console and lifted it up a bit to pass the wire under it. The carpeting extends under it a ways and protects the wire from chafe.

sorry to resurrect the subject but I finally got everything going. almost everything.. only problem i'm having now is finding a power source.. I've read that many people put the ground and neutral to the cigarette lighter under the stereo. Is any splicing required for those wires? I can get to it but I can't see the back of the lighter..

I grabbed power for my accessories from both the driver side dash fuse panel and from the underhood fuse box. For your purposes, the dash fuse panel would be the most logical choice.

this is from my wideband install but you can see how I used that acc spot in the dash box for the cutout. The one I used for the wideband is a switched 12v. I just used a 1/4" blade connector and put heat shrink on it.

Not to hi-jack this thread but on the subject of Cut outs what dies anyone think of the Dougs electric Cut outs? They use a solenoid that totally removes the door/flap intstead of just opening it in the pipe? so that you have like an open pipe?
