L92 swap
So I am considering buying this L92 I found for sale out of a Cadillac Escalade with only 7k miles on it. So I am trying to figure out what I need to make it work? I know to make it work with my TA I need to remove the VVT, what all is involved in removing that? Should I use a truck pcm/wiring harness too or should I keep my 98 stuff and use that. Other than swapping the truck intake for a car intake and putting all of my accessories and pulleys on does anyone know if there is anything tricky about this swap? Also I have a FAST 102 does anyone know if the base for the FAST for the l92 would work with mine so I have rectangular ports? I think not but I don't really know how the two designs really compare.

You're going to have a lot of work ahead of you, expecially with a '98, since the wiring harnesses are different from the 99+. Also, the FAST 102 you have (cathedral port) will not work with the L92 Heads. Here's a picture of what I am talking about:
You're probably better off just buying a heads/cam package that will better match your FAST102 Intake.

The reason I was considering this is I was doing the ls6 vct mod and some how got metal bits on my cam so I was just looking at my options to see if it is even worth saving the engine or not. I have now decided to flush the cam cavity out and drop the pan to clean it out. I know my FAST wouldn't fit, my question was can you swap the lower base of the cathedral port FAST with the rectangular port base.

Yeah, they're three piece and you can swap them, but it's going to be expensive...I'm not sure if FAST will sell you just the bottom piece. Your best bet would be to find someone with a LS3/L92 FAST102 and trade them.

I see this as a very expensive (not worth the trouble) type of swap
That newer engine has VVT which is expensive to deal with, it also has a 58 tooth reluctor wheel that your computer isn't compatable with, so you'll need a conversion box for that, sensors in various locations have been moved so adapter harness' are needed for that, different intake, it just goes on and on.
I'd make a decent effort at cleaning what you have and see how it runs for a while before going through all the trouble of making an L92 work...

Yeah, the good ole days of simple engine swaps are long gone.
People gripe about the old technoligy of the gen 1 sbc but the ease of swapping parts for the better part of 50 years is hard to beat.
Now it seems GM has to change something every couple years, which really makes parts swapping expensive and time consuming. These 4th gens are barely 10 years old and they are already obsolete now. They want you go go out and buy a new car every 4 years. Us DYI guys have a much harder time.
