    Flexplate carnage

This is what you can see when I took the trans out

This is what the other side looks like

There are some 10 mm bolts on the back of the block I am worried about because just about all of them were loose.

Yikes! My clutch springs flew apart on my 94 Z and the pressure plate kinda looked like that. I'm gonna be doin a stall here shortly, hope mine don't look like that. I assume that was making a lot of noise and thats why you were taking a look? What were the bolts supposed to be holding?

Kind of looks like art work. So, what was the issue? Did a bolt back all the way out and dance around in there?

I have our stock flexplate sitting in my garage taking up space if you are interested. Installed a Hays SFI-approved piece when I dropped the Performabuilt in a few months ago.

looks like the covertor broke the bolts and just scraped the hell out of the back of the flex plate

The back of the plate (1st pic) looks good. It's the front that is destroyed along with a mangled rear cover.

Went autoxing and heard a rattle. I have a loose heatshield on my cat so I thought that was it. Drove it 92miles from house (freakin stupid) and the noise went away, it came back and went away again then coming in to a turn at 6000rpm what was left of the flexplate/torque converter bolts did what you see here (they are completley gone).

Cracked the pan (look at my fingers) and broke a bolt on the main cover. I am going to try and seal the pan externally and run it to see if it leaks or not. If it does then I guess it comes out. The way the back of the block is where it meets the pan the surface is no longer flat.

I bought a used trans/coverter and a new tci flexplate. I think i'll be checking for crank walk if I can coax a friend to help me with that.

Ouch! Had the transmission been out of the car previously?

Those pics make me glad that I used Loc-tite on mine. ARP makes converter and flexplate bolts for our cars FWIW. Are the converter mounting pads and bolt holes damaged?

    Yep

The arp bolts are shorter than what came in the tci kit. Is that the same with yours or did mine get mixed up opon shipping?

The ARP bolts are shorter. I had stock bolts, unknown aftermarket bolts that came with my converter and the ARP bolts. If I recall, both the aftermarket and ARP bolts were about the same length.
