Mark Blair Claims His Jeep Is the World’s Quickest Street-Driven CherokeeIt’s always cool to see a vehicle do something that it was never meant to. That’s probably why Monster Garage was so popular. They’d turn a PT Cruiser into a wood chipper, or a Miata into a jet ski—goofy, entertaining stuff like that. Mark Blair’s wheel-standing Jeep Cherokee is kinda like that. You don’t expect to see a Jeep with a luggage rack run low 9s. This thing stands on the bumper thanks to an S&W back half with a four-link, a 4.56-geared 9-inch with a Detroit Locker, 31x15 Hoosier slicks (on the track, and Quick Time Pros on the street), and power from a 930hp, 505ci Dodge motor (with 300-500 hp-worth of nitrous) and a 727 automatic with a brake and a TCI converter. The Jeep has run as quick as 9.15 at 149 mph, but Blair has his sites set on the 8-second zone in his street-driven SUV. He races it all over the place.
