help with airbox

so my ram air box is splitting on a seam. what would be the best glue/epoxy to use on it? want to make sure that it never comes apart again but just not really sure what to use on it.

the way it is separated gives a great surface to glue/epoxy so if the correct stuff is used it should hold for a good long time.

I think any good epoxy should work. As long as you have the right filter in there that lid shouldn't really be getting beat around too much. I would use something that you can put just a thin coating on so it doesn't squeeze out and see if you can find something flexible although that really wouldn't be a concern. Not much stress there really compared to other stuff I've had epoxy last on.

The epoxy products found most places is what I would use. Make sure you get the plastic welding product and make sure to scuff the plastic up alittle bit and thoroughly clean it.

It seems there's some space on the inside where you could cake it on? If so, I would, as it will only help in the strength. The more surface area of the plastic the glue comes into contact with the stronger the bond. Anything that oozes to the exterior wipe/clean immediately, b/c I know some of the epoxies come in a 5min dry time formula.

I'd also recommend ditching the k&n.

use some gorilla glue on it and it will be as good as new... just don't get that shit on your fingers cause what ever you're touching will now be part of you... forever...

ya know, i have some of that stuff and thought about using that but i know it will look like shit if it comes out around the edges..... i have used that on wood and some other misc things but never plastic....

already done. i bought the new filter and it's read to go on as soon as i get this fixed. every time i took the airbox apart it was one hell of a fight to get it back on because of the extra thickness of the K&N. i knew it was not a good thing and should have changed it out last year....

thanks for all the ideas. i will take a look at some of the products today after work.

i jsut used it on my stove... i broke a plasstic corner off... i used a tooth pick to apply it to the plastic (becareful it don't get stuck) and had no problems with it...

I had to fix my lid recently. I used plastic weld. It worked great. Make sure you clean the area good and I will try to doing from the inside 1st so it doesn't look too messy. The crack is pretty big so I will do it both sides if the 1st attempt fails. I agree with just putting a stock paper filter.
