winter
i have had my car in storage since end of october and was wondering if i should start it this month or just wait till march when i get it out?
i didnt put stabil or anything in the tank, all i did was disconnect the battery
i plan on an oil change in spring
what do you guys think?

i'd start it. won't hurt nothin. then maybe put some stabil in the tank.

I let mine sit pretty much all winter. I may go start it every now and then or I may not. Never noticed a difference. If you do start it let it run long enough to get everything nice and hot so it burns off the condensation.

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
Mine sits stored, but I try to start it about every 2 weeks. Personally I would start it and let it run.

if it was stored in my garage i'd start it every 2 weeks... its in a warehouse storage facility that i cant access more than like once per winter.. so january is basically halfway timewise between when i stored it and when its coming out so i figured i'd go in one of these days... and i need to find out how many miles are on it anyway for re registering it in spring..

Pewter- 2001 Z28
You want to get the exhaust hot enough to eliminate any moisture, so I would at least run it and bring the motor up to temp. Honestly I dont think you need to start it if you put it away correctly, I change oil, use stabil, clean everything, etc. Put it away like its brand new! Also decon mouse poison, I found the best spot is directly on the inatake manifold.

ok went and started the car, there is a problem... possibly?
it initially had a rough idle right when it first started... i let it idle until it reached running temp for the coolant from looking at the gauge..
then i reved it barely to like 2k rpms... the rpms came back down from the rev to almost below 500 rpms and the car almost stalled out and the lights dimmed... this happened more than once...
what could this be? and could this be an actual problem or is it just because it has been sitting for 2 1/2 months?
(would it be something to do with the fuel pump?)

I let my car sit all winter once without starting it. When spring came, I finally started it and it ran like complete ass for about 20 minutes. After that it was fine.
I now start it once every 2 weeks and let it run until the temp gage cycles a few times. Come spring it's fine.

After reading this thread this morning I went out to start the t/a, its been about 3 months and real cold so I thought I better, any how after I came home 3 hours later I looked under the car and there was 2 nickle size oil spots that were not there before, it was'nt leaking any oil at all before I started it. I'm really wondering why it would do that. I am going to keep an eye on it to make sure it does'nt leak to much more, I really dont want to have to drive it in the snow/salt to a shop. - Jason =\

So much for global warming

global "warming" does not mean the whole world is warming up everywhere. some places get warmer and some will actually get colder. some will be dryer, some will be more wet. its not a clear cut description of whats going on. thats why they changed the name of it to "climate change"
nearly all scientists recognize "climate change", they argue on what degree human involvement has altered the weather patterns
SORRY, but it drives me nuts when people say "so much for global warming"..

Its gonna be almost 40 degrees here in MN the next couple of days, its gonna feel like the tropics considering we have been well below zero the last few weeks, shit last thursday it was -9 with a -18 wind chill. I'm eager to drive my car again, I almost took it for a spin when I started it up during the week-end but my better side told me not to.
