Possibly clutch slippage or just getting ready to go out on you?

There is a "clutch" in the convertor that makes our's lock up.
The motor or the tranny? They had to change the tranny fluid check the color and the smell of the motor oil if you are concerned. You may put in a tranny cooler just to keep it that much cooler.

if it smells more when you rev it id say its something burning in your exhuast and its probably a different type of gas( gas stations are putting out the winter gas now) and itll almost certainly smell differently.
