99 Trans am ls1 into 96 trans am
First I want to congratulate and thank this forums and the creaters for creating this space for all of us.
Well I have 96 trans am (LT1) and I want to put a 99 trans am ls1 in it.I have both in my posecion, 99 is mostly totaled.
I want to know if there is going to be any major complications in the fuel system, break system or in the harness that i might have to change before intalling the ls1.
Do I have to change the complete harness (front end to rear end) of the ls1 into the 96 or do I only need to swap the portion that is under the hood and under the dash and mod it into the existing 96 harness.
Any help is greatly apreciated.

wiring harness and ECU is all I can think of. It should be a direct swap otherwise. You will also need the front airbox as well.

Quick Silver- 2002 Z06
I may be wrong... But I remember reading something about the clutch being different between the two engines. If you got an A4 I guess it doesn't matter but you may want to search a little... Or maybe someone reading this knows something more deffinite.

Transmission is different in the M6's because the input shaft is about 3/4 of an inch longer pre 98. Also the slave cylinder pertrudes out the bellhousing. The bellhousing has a hole in it so the slave lines run out of it.

Well both cars are automatic, I'm doing engine and tranni swap just because the lt1 is old already and the ls1 is little better maintained. Time and effort is pretty much why I'm doing this, took time out of school to do this. Well up to this point I haven't spent any money and I already have the ls1. The main concern for me right now is figuring out if I need to change the entire harness from the entire car.
I apreciate the input guys, I'll try the other site. Thanks.

Well changed almost everything that i could take out of the 99 model and put it on the 96 model, I got the motor running, everything mechanically related is bolted on. The only thing that I dont want to plug-in is the airbags,
right now they are not hooked up at module under the middle console.
If I hook them up will they deploy or are they simply not going to be active until the ecu gets re programmed.
