Apple II Emulators?
It looks to this 36 y/o that there really aren't any viable Apple II emulators available out there ala MAME? I would really like to be able to play the amazingly simple hexagonal based SSI 1985 series games (Germany 1985, RDF 195, Baltic 1985, etc.), but am not currently seeing any option other than some startup hacks that are only looking for money. Obviously if that is the state of this development effort to repair the digital decay since then, then funds are needed, but didnt know after an hour or so of web search if that was truly the present state of emulation in this arena.
Thanks in advance for any geek advice here....

Why not just buy an Apple II?
I have an old 386SX PC with 4MB of RAM, video card with 512K, DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11, Lotus 123, Wordperfect, Dbase, and a 40MB Hard Drive,
5 1/4 FDD, 3 1/2 FDD, 16bit Noderunner ethernet card and LANtastic in it so I can actually connect to whatever I want, plus I can play my old FDD based games.2002 Street ET Champion New England Dragway
1999 Street ET Champion Oxford Dragway

I will actually consider doing that if it turns out no one has an emulator developed. I dont understand why they dont make games like they used to....so simple, yet so elegant, replay value (to me anyway) was sky high...
Since the game was 5.25 FDD, it has to be easier than MAME ROMS as far as emulating and playing on my PC??

Try looking here, it should give you something to start with.

MAME is a much different beast than these emulators, so that's not really a fair comparison. MAME covers a vast amount of hardware/software/firmware combinations that the Apple ][ was never intended for.
I have minimal working knowledge of Apple ]['s so I don't really have use for an emulator. I think I wrote a BASIC program on one when I was in 2nd grade and haven't seen once since. Good luck!Last edited by my5thNewUsernameHere; 01-28-2006 at 07:15 AM.

Re:
Want to thank my5th as you pointed me to the right spot. Full Apple II emulator (both e and c), and a whole crapload of games, including everything by SSI.
Thanks man!
