No free email allowed? What?

I just registered, and when I entered my Gmail account, I was told that I couldn't use an email site, and that I had to use the email that my "isp assigned me" (none). So I used my admin email for a website I run, and I never recieved the activation email.

Can someone resend the activation email?

And why can't we use email accounts provided by google, etc?

EDIT: Alright, I changed my email address to my university email and had the forum resend activation, all is well.

Is there another kind of spam protection that can be used? I never use my ISP email address. I just want to be able to get notification etc.

once you sign up can you get the email changed? i used my isp email but it took me forever to figure out how to log onto that because i never use it. Now that i am signed up i would like to use a different email.

edit: nevermind I found the "User CP" all is good
