To me, the problem not only lies with N. Korea... I believe (and this is solely my opinion) that China has an alliance with them...I believe China will attack alongside N. Korea if this war begins... their statement to the press makes me think so even more...

Neighboring China , which hosts long-standing disarmament talks that include the Koreas, the United States , Japan and Russia , has said that it's aware that North Korea plans a launch, but it's declined to characterize it as an act that would defy the U.N. resolution.

If North Korea and China held a military alliance against the US then China's economy would crumble. China relies on us more than we rely on them. I would love to see North Korea start a war. However with Obama in office our defense budget will probably only fund stones for our soldiers.

There is no such alliance.

China backed them up in the 50's when MacArthur showed up and starting beating some commie-ass, but much has changed since then.

Now China makes all its money from us, and South Korea has set an example of what a united Korea could have been if we had just let MacArthur do his job (and the Chinese are damn lucky we didn't let him). South Korea is an economic success story.

North Korea would never start a war. They are all talk. Their equipment is completely outdated, and we would roll them up just as fast as we did Iraq, minus a few hundred South Korean losses from short range rocket/missile attacks.

Like the other poster said, we would have air superiority established within days, and then they'd just be running and hiding in their mountains while we carpet-bombed the shit out of them.

I know in 2002 the NK had the million man army. Even if they are outdated, i would think that would do some damage to us and the SK.

Simulation:

They would put up a one week fight
We lose 15-20 troops tops (mostly SK)
They lose 750k troops
They lose all POWER
Korea becomes united
Maybe US gets out of recession

Sounds good where do we sign-up.

Not only that but there are THOUSANDS of troops in South Korea and the DMZ who have trained for that terrain and weather.
