Smile Well the new guys speaks! little help?

Hey there, My names Shaun. I have 2 grand prix's a 2000 show car thats pushing 500whp and a 2002 40th anniversary as the daily driver. I am in the process of demodding the 2000 and selling it.. to pick up a Trans Am. This is where you guys can help me out a bit. There are a few I'm looking at, 1 being a black 2000 NHRA. 2nd being a black 2002 WS6, 3rd is midnight blue 2002 WS6, and the final one is a black 2002 WS6 with torq thrust wheels, Long tube headers, corsa catback, tinted windows, just basic bolt ons. These all have around 16k miles, Fully loaded,T-tops and are in flawless condition. So if i can hear some of your opinions on those. Then the other would be whats the differences between the NHRA and the WS6? I've tried looking up on them a little but i havent found any real answers. I know the badging is different, the NHRA's that ive seen dont have the ram air hoods. I also read they made about 800-850 of those cars in the 3 years of production. So any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

normally you don't pay for mods done to a car-so you should go with the one that has the bolt on's allready. They are typical bolt-ons and gives you a nice building platform, otherwise you'll have to spend money to gain that advantage with the precieved stock ones.

bolt-ons and super low mileage usually indicate the car was used for racing. Another T/A with 30,000 miles might be in better condition.

Mine is a 98 with 68k and it runs better than a 02 I test drove with 30k on it. Milesisn't everything...

the 02's are all in the same price around $19,500. The car isn't going to stay stock.. A twin turbo setup will be tossed on there with supporting mods to the rearend, trans, suspension, and im still doing a toss up of what i want to do with internals, stroker maybe? this is the real eye popper though... the NHRA has 16k miles fully loaded except! its cloth interior.. which i could change out easily for leather, and no ram air hood.. in which i would buy the carbon fiber WS6 Hood. The Dealership put the car down as an LT1.. When i went to check it out, I knew it would have the LS1 so i didn't tell them about incase they decide to jack the price up because of that. Sooo heres the sick part.. it costs $13,000! I drove the car, and it runs really smooth. Is the WS6 and NHRA pretty much the same except for the hood and badging?

if your going to do all the work to it i dont think the mileage is really important then, save your money and buy a car with a little higher mileage, once all those mods get tossed on the car the mileage isnt guna matter

good way to look at it, I glad I wasnt the only one who thought that way about bolt ons on our car. I see bolt ons as free money you didnt have to spend.

An LS1 is an LS1 the WS6 has no real HP advantage over a base car.
The NHRA pkg was basically just emblems. And BTW the NHRA your talking about seems to be a Formula since it has Cloth Seats. All `98+ Trans Am's have leather and T-tops Standard.
If the front fascia has the outward driving lights and looks like this it's a Formula

my car is cammed and all those good little bolt ons and only has 17k on the clock.
just because its modded and low miles does not mean its a race car.

more or less they are the same.

General info on the NHRA editions:

The NHRA Special Edition was a commemorative edition offered from 2000 to 2002. It was created to help celebrate Pontiac’s major sponsorship of the National Hot Road Association (NHRA) which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2001.

The NHRA Edition package (1SH) cost around 1k, it added a 3.23 A4 or a 3.42 Hurst M6 rear end, power steering cooler, P245/50ZR16 tires, badges and a keychain produced by Morgan Design Group. The only colors that were available with the 1SH option code were red, white, pewter, and black.

    2000 (215 1SH Produced)

    2001 (145 1SH Produced)

    2002 (535 1SH Produced)

awesome, thanks for the help! You guys think thats a pretty good deal for the NHRA? The dealership told me it was a trans am... but you guys say its a formula because of the cloth interior. If i changed the interior to leather, and put a carbonfiber WS6 hood on there i don't think the car would be noticably different. 1 more quick question, would the suspension be pretty much the same as the WS6? I'm more than likely going to be swapping that anyways... but i was just curious. I still have to search the boards some more and see what everyone likes for suspension, rearend, and engine.

but you have to admit if a car is cammed, its much, much more likely to have been raced. just something to consider. But if you are replacing almost everything anyways then I guess it wouldn't matter.
