    Question Oil Additive???

Winter is here and my T/A will be sitting in the garage mostly. I was wonder if it woul dbe good to add some oil additive to the engine? Lucas or something like that. So when I do run it here and there to cycle it the parts inside will be coated better. I have heard mixed ideas about additives b/c most oils have them already. So is it a good idea to add some additive. OR should I just add a bit of 10w-30 to my 5w-30???

Why would you want to thicken your oil in the winter?
If you want to see what Lucas will do to your oil, look at my posts in Sarge's UOA sticky.

I dont nessesarily want to thicken the oil, but like I said I wont b running the car that much. Sooo I want to make sure th engine is protected during cold dry starts. SO i wanted to add some additive to help the filming on the internals to protect during start up. I know there are additive packs in most synth oils these days. I was asking if it s good idea to add something to protect on dry starts or if the oil is good enough by itself. I saw and have hear what lucas does so that why i wondered if i added a thicker oil if it would help at all. Thicker oil clings to parts better so when engine is off it should stay on internals better so on cold starts the more protection. But I am thinking if I was gonna do the thicker oil thing, one I dunno ho wmuch 10w will be compared to 5w, and I would prob have to change all the oil, which i did only about 500 miles ago

check out amsoil.com, they have the fogging oil. there is also a pre-oiler you can buy, i think at amsoil, that primes the oil passages before each start
