Electrical Problems
I have been having electrical problems in my 94 formy...Where do I start?
The windshield wipers only turn on if I put them on the highest setting and they dont always turn completely off (go back down in the resting position)
The radio controls dont work right, preset station buttons dont all work. Sometimes 4 and 5 dont work, sometimes 3 and 6 dont work.
My parking brake light (Brake (P) and (!)) and Low Trac light come on and off. Seems like they stay on in first and sometimes in second gear or low rpms any gear. (m6) The ABS Inop light is always on.
I do have a Clifford aftermarket alarm system which didnt always unlock my doors when I first bought the car a few months back. I havent had any problems with it after the first week though...not sure how It fixed itself but somehow did.
It would seem to me to be a bad ground somewhere but I am not much of a electrician. The problems with the radio controls are intermittent and change what seems to be every time I start my car. Windshield wipers are very intermittent as well. They have never worked on anything but full setting but I never know if they will go completely down or not. I just have to turn them on and off until they finally go down.
Hopefully someone can post some input and ThanksLast edited by bryceslu; 10-27-2007 at 05:55 PM.

Are these recent issues, or been something that has been happening since you bought the car.
I have heard that aftermarket alarm systems on our cars, if not installed properly, can cause some really crazy stuff to happen.
If it's not that, Check to make sure that your battery and alternator are still good. If so, You'll have to wait for someone who has more electrical system experience that I for an idea.

Yes I have had these problems since I bought the car a few months back
It is my first Fbody and was so giddy about spinning the tires all the way through 2nd gearthat I overlooked checking out all the electronics. It was also a 2 hour drive and bought it with someone else having a deposit on it already. I guess you could say it was an impulse buy.

Radio it sounds like the buttons are worn and shot. Best thing to do is to replace the whole headunit. As far as the wipers, it sounds like bad resistors in the actual wiper switch. It's hard to diagnose over the internet but it definately sounds like a resistor switch issue..

PBM- 2004 GTO M6 PBM
Maybe try just disconnecting the alarm system and see if that changes anything if it doesn't then its either what one of the previous members said about resonators and and a bad head unit, or maybe just check the battery, is it old? Maybe have a local mechanic check how much power its putting out. If thats not it then i guess wait for another member to post something, check some other sites like ls1tech or over in the camaro, GTO or vette forums maybe one them will have better info. Good luck, i had a bad experience when i first got my car too but its all better now nothing serious
