this sucks man,

its like 3am. today my car started actin funny when i tried to start it... like the starter didnt even try... and the ding ding ding when the door was open started goin real fast when i turned the key and then the whole car just went dead... i figured the battery was fucked up, cuz i checked and the negative connection on the battery had melted off... so i was like hey... new battery. i switched it out and started it, it was idling at like 300, not 3000 rpms and was tryin to stall. my mechani was down the road so i asked him and he said drive it for ten minutes and the computer will adapt and it'll be fine. it straightened itself out and i was drivin home tonite and it started feelin like it was gonna cut off. the engine was like slowin down a little bit (like it was gonna stalll) i was doin like 45 and then the headlights and all the dash lights were flickerin on and off and the tach needle was like shuttin off and jumpin to six grand (not the motor just the tach. then i cut it off and was gonna roll up the windows with just the power and the whole car cut off and would start and the windows wont wont go up and it wont even crank again... hopin one of ya'll will help me sorry i took so long sayin this. any help would be great...

Similiar thing happened to me, I thought it was the battery too, it was the alternator. Crazy tac, flashing lights like a pinball machine...new alt. problem gone..good luck!

Had that same problem with my car once. Turned out to be corroded cable from the alt to battery instead. Food for thought.

same exact thing happened to me!! about 2 years ago... first lights then radio then engine power... it was the alternator... alternator<--- no doubt.

yeah the chevy dealership has my baby for the weekend... he said its the alternator and maybe some electrice problems... is it just me or do f bodies always have electric problems? oh and a side question... its always a fear in the back of my head that my car will be taken joyridin by some punk at the dealership... does anyone else worry about that too?

YUP i def. do worry......there was a story about a guy that worked at a ford stealership, he went and ragged on a cobra, then was on a local mustang forum bragging about it, the guy that owned the car was on the forum too and sued the dealership and got the guy fired!!!

Thats why you have the service manager with you while you document the mileage of the vehicle at the time you drop it off and snap a few pictures.

oh... without a doubt some asshole at the dealership is gonna spank your car for a block or so on a "test-drive"....

oh and its 99% not any electrical shit... its the alternator...it controls alot

make them give you a new alternator!
