Sebring Silver- 2000 Camaro SS (R.I.P.)
Is this SS conv. a good deal?
I hate pestering you guys with this piddly $h!t but you guys are more knowledgeable about this stuff than anyone could ever be. I have the opportunity to buy a 2000 SS conv, white, new beige top, beige leather, auto, for $8900. I checked the codes: WU8. All SLP stickers present. It has 108,000 miles on a bone-stock LS1, but if I buy it, it'll be ripped out and built anyway. Two major issues: 1) It has repaint on the right rear quarter; 2) under both rear seats is a dark brown patch, indicative of water leakage. The free Carfax report says it has 13 records (probably not a good sign).
At the price being offered to me, I'm not expecting a perfect car. However, if it's a POS, I won't even consider buying it.
Any input will be appreciated. The VIN is 2G1FP32G0Y2125259 if anyone would care to check it out for me.
Thanks!-- J. Bennett

Sebring Silver- 2000 Camaro SS (R.I.P.)
Update...
Drove the car and there was nothing to complain about other than a little brake squeal. Cold AC. Tires are brand new. Power top is functional - I tried it 3 times.

Green- 94 Camaro 3.4
I'm not an expert in the matter, but that sounds like a pretty good deal to me...
Its hard to say what 13 records would mean... it can be anything... new owner is a record, re-registering, even an owner change of addy can be a record.
If you could call the overall condition of that car "good", then its worth it.

I did some looking online, and found some similar, but the cheapest rang in at a little over 11k.... with 115k miles. Theres actually a shitload of SS verts for sale in FL right now... wierd considering its summer.... you know, april-november.

I would run the carfax and pay for it if you are serious about it. I think it would be nice to see the 13 records and find out what they are. Probably unlikely, but 5 of them could be wrecks....who knows. Goodluck though, sounds like a deal for a vert.

Navy Blue Metallic- 2001 camaro SS A4
That cheap for a SS. Just run the carfax to check it out. The 13 reports can be anything including oil changes, warranty work, or crashes.

Carfax comes back clean. I know that's not 100% accurate but it puts my mind at ease a bit. At least I know it wasn't in a demolition derby or something. The records are from the previous 2 owners changing their address and updating the registration. Not even any warranty work done on the car according to the report.
I appreciate the input thus far...Last edited by 2000 SS #1305; 07-09-2007 at 06:45 AM.

Price is now $8500. I'll call a local mechanic and have him look at it. Although it's not the exact car I want, I'm starting to like this deal...
