alternator help
I have a 99 LS1 trans am. just ordered from summit racing a powermaster 47914 140 amp. this was listed as working for my vehicle according to their application guide. got it in and it doesn't fit at all. it's bracket holes don't line up. I think the guide is wrong. I want a 140,150, or 160 for around 250 or less. I paid 170 for this one and now have to pay more to ship it back. where can I get one similar ? it makes me mad that their site doesn't have the firebird listed correctly.

Collector Edition Yellow- 2002 Trans Am
Check out Iraggi Alternators...they make a great product. I've used them before and have had no problems. Dominick Iraggi...the owner is who I would deal with. Not sure if they make one for the LS1 but most likely. Your best bet is to contact Dominick by email, he is usually really fast at responding. Let me know how it goes. Mike.

did you check how the alternator case was clocked? the case might need to be taken apart and rotated to get all the mounts lined up right.

yes, I checked. the entire thing was wrong. the mounting holes didnt come close to lining up with the bracket. I called powermaster this morning and they gave me the number for the alternator that will fit my LS1. I read somewhere that another person has had the same problem with ordering an alternator from Summit for his firebird. it pulls up didn't ones for the camaro with the same engine design and year. for some reason the site doesn't list the correct alternators for the 98-02 trans am and camaro LS1. I think I got it straight now. the company is shipping the other one overnight. they were really nice about the entire thing. thanks for the advice

Summit is usually pretty good about correcting any wrongs. If you tell them your prob. they might pay for shipping.
