i'm thinking of buying a pre-01'-02' TA
okay so I can't seem to find any 01' or 02' black on black WS6 trans am's around me... so if I were to buy a 98'-00' WS6 what is the HP rating on it and can the EGR system be taken out and replaced with the LS6 intake manifold...I want something that's an Auto(I think)that really moves...and how much slower are the 98'-00' WS6's compared to the 01'-02' WS6's? thanks-

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
whao son, it's all the same engine-don't give into "web hype" an ls1 makes 345 bhp regardless if it's a vette, goat or f-body.
yes, you can put ls6 intake on the 98-00's
yes you can eliminate any smog/air EGR bullshit and tune it out as if you would the 01-02's

Yeah dude the ls1 is the same in all except for the things stated above, people say the 98 tend to be a little slower, i have a 2000 T/A non ws6 with the stock intake manifold and i can take 2002 WS6s that are stock, i have bolt ons.

Everything above is true. I have a 2000 TA with a lid only, had it on the dyno and it puts 311HP at the wheels. But.... I dont know if that is good, but not bad for a stock car.

^thanks guys...I really wanted a 01'-02' WS6 but now that I found out there are no big differences I will look for 98'-00' WS6 and one more question???-if I end up buying an automatic; I have heard they have some problems with 2nd and 4th gears, any truth to this?

There is A LOT of truth to that, but don't get worried to fast...when I got my 2000 trans am (automatic)I bought it brand new, I was only 18 and I beat the hell out of it, I still have it and I am 24, but the car has about 98,000 miles on it. (still looks new and runs new) Long story short at about 97, 000 miles my third and fourth clutch siezed up, and so I got a 9 clutch transmission with shift kit put in! So the stock transmissions are good, it will just give you a reason to rebuild the tranny years down the road, hope this helped. clg82

It's funny you say that because before I had one single mod done, BONE STOCK, I raced 3 ws6's, 2 99 corvettes, some stick and some not and beat them by one car or more
, needless to say they were pretty pissed!
So for all those people that say why didn't you get a stick, that is why i didn't get a stick!!! The computer shifts right all the time, no worries! Just step on the gas! Plus I can still hold the chix hand that is sitting nex to me while i walk over vette's. heehee

Yeah but heres the thing i have beat a hand full of auto ones. Plus how many times have i jsut been cruising put it in second or 3rd and dusted an atuo dcar then he says im an auto lets go lower so i can hit first, then i do and i still win. the truth is a stick looses less power going from the motor to the ground thats a fact not opinion. So thats why people want stick. Autos are fun as hell i owned one but i would never go back.
No more arguments about stick or auto lol.

Black on black.- 2001 WS6 M6 (stock)
01-02 got:
Tighter main clearances
LS6 intake
better oil pump
no EGR
241 casting # heads (not 853 or 806)
revised lifter design
These are the changes I can come up with off the top of my head

I dont know if my oil pump isnt stock or what but my oil pressure when the car is warm at idle is usually at 55 almost 60 sometimes. Is this normal? Never once has it hit 40 or lower lowest i have ever seen it is like 45.
