M6's downshift to 3RD @ 70!!!!
there, i said it. I've heard numerous stories from you guys that would be bigger wins if you down shifted to 3rd instead of 4th @ 70 mph. If you really wanna blow their doors off, get them down to 50/60mph and grab 2nd gear.

Yep, 3rd gear redlines around 100MPH with stock 3.42's. So if you're going 70MPH, definitely drop back to 3rd. If you go to 4th you're going to be below 4,000RPM, which isn't in the powerband.
Now of course if you have 4.10's thats all different

It all depends on your gearing and rev limitter. Mine is set at 7K and with my 3.73 thats 84mph at redline on 2nd gear. 3rd gear is good for 115mph at redline. I would want to slow down to 60-65mph so i can stay on second longer, plus at 70mph in second you can break loose the tires and loose time trying to keep the car on a straight line as the car, and if inexperience probably wreck you car.

Agreed! You still have plenty of room in third gear at 70 mph (with the stock 3.42s).
Of course, once I finally figured out my ideal shift points, I installed 3.90's and I'm trying to figure it out all over again. I dropped down to 3rd at 65 mph last night and it was starting off in a very strong part of the band! FUN! FUN!

Heres a good gear calculator to help you guys out:

Just input your year/transmission, tire size or tire height, and your rear end ratio, and it produces a nice chart

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
106 MPH with stock gears.
From 70MPH I would still use 3rd gear and I have 4.11's.

Damn. Can the car break loose if you shift down to 3rd @ 70 and punch it? It would scare the shit outta me to get outta control at the speed.
