1st Gen Vs. 2nd Gen
I do not really know much about the older cars like I should. Right now I am looking at a good deal at a 67 Camaro SS. Most likely I am going to get it. But I am just curious what numbers do the older cars put down and the 1/4 times. I know the camaros had 350 and 396s. And I think the birds had bigger motors right? and what is faster the 1st or 2nd gens or are they the same? thank you

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
If you go for the 67 Camaro check the codes on the firewall tag. 4K = 396/375; 4N = 396/325; 4P = 350/295. I very much doubt it's a 4L (302/290). All of these numbers are CID/flywheel HP. If it's a real SS it'll have one of those 3 codes. If not then it's not a real SS. Note: This only applies to the 67 YM. Obviously, owing to old tech they are not as fast stock, but they do respond well to mods.

67 thur 69 were about the same stock. Unless you went ZL1 or Yenko or such. And as stated above they responed very well to mods. 70 thru 73/74 were about the same. 67 thru 74 they would tend to run 15's. Heck the T/A from the movie Smokey and the Bandit was a 16 second ride. Did the factory make a fast ride yes ZL1. Did dealers back in the day make fast also yes Yenko and others.

Blue- 2002 Z28 Camaro M6
Well the nice thing about these cars is they will take in just about any GM powerplant with ample space and maybe even enough for a small family under the hood
I don't suggest tearing up something if you have a nice collectors car, but they can be real monsters depending on what is under the hood.
I know the 69 Z28 with the 4 speed is a great fun car, not sure about the 1/4 times though.

The engine is a Gen I SBC. Hard to tell what CID unless you have a list of internal components. I highly doubt it's an SS and as a matter of fact it's not even listed as such. I'll bet most (if not all) of the drive train is not original. From the looks of it it's worth the asking price even if you have to push it home. Gen 1 Camaro's (even 6 cylinder conversions) are commanding a good price these days.
