No! The insurance company will not pay. I know somebody who did the same thing in 1976 and he had to pay all kinds of fines for polluting the bay. And his insurance didn't have to pay a penny.

I live in a city that has a large bay off of Lake Ontario. In the winter the bay is like an ice fishing town & almost every year someone puts a truck or car through the ice. Insurance does not pay. I have never figured out why anyone would drive thier vehicle out on the ice.
Plus, you also get fined for having the vehicle in the water ( environmental hazard).
It's just not cold enough here to trust the ice thickness & the currents under it to risk your vehicle & your own safety.

Belleville Ontario, sort of 70 miles due North of you. Driven to Macedon many times for work. I thought the Fast ferry would have went over well, apparently not, too bad. When I was a kid we used to listen to Majic 92.5 WMJQ all the time, then they went country, Now we listen to The Fox Rochester, excellent radio station, have it on all day at work.
We have the Bay Of Quinte, mostly frozen over right now, but I'd never drive onto it.

wouldn't the insurance company have to pay the bank if there was a loan on it?
maybe the insurance co. could come after you, but i would think the bank is protected by "full coverage"
