Wont shift into 3rd or overdrive 99 T/A
i was driving home tonight on the expressway, punched it a couple of times and car was as normal n fast as ever. then right before i go to get off the expressway the tranny goes to shift into 3rd and instead just revs up high so i let off the gas asap. put the car in second, goes in gear fine, try puttin it into 3rd and drive and all i get is revving until the tranny drops into second. ANY ideas?? i checked tranny fluid it seems ok doesnt really smell burnt. im in for the night so i got posterboard under the tranny and rear end imma check tomorrow to see if anything leaked out overnight. Any help is appreciaed to get my bird back runnin like it used to.

Very possible that the the clutch pack has let go or somthing has happened in the valve body.

im guessing only good way to check that is to have a shop drop the pan???

Its a start, get them to to do a live scan first to rule out a computer fault, may also find the problem. Ultimalty the pan will have to come off to fix it.

aight im goin to the shop after class today. cant wait to find out this price tag...

If it needs a rebuild get heavy duty parts and a stage one kit put in, an aux trans cooler would also be a good idea.

Not the one I was think of but ya, the downside of that one is that you have to shift the thru the gears good for racing and high out put engins not so good for traffic. I have a M6 and rush hour sucks. Something along this http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...t=12&subcat=21 might be better for daily driving, but its up to you.

Mine did the same thing. Had to have my tranny rebuilt, 450 from a friend. I took it out and dropped it off and he rebuilt it in a day. I dont mess with the inside of trannies. The local shops wanted 950, and thats with me taking it out and bringing it to them. My fluid was burnt and there was metal shavings in it. But it was doing the same thing. First and second were good and third and od were shot.

cars at the tranny shop. tranny should be out by monday n wen i get the call im goin up to discuss wut were gonna put back in to make it a beast. hes gonna check everything n try to find wut failed but likely were just rebuildin the whole thing
