screwed on ebay, need help.....
i bought a set of corvette wheels on ebay...seller said original chrome wheels of a 04 corvette.....well that shoulda been my first clue, but i didnt know they didnt make chrome gm wheels in 04....anyways, the wheels are fake. no gm stamp on them and the finish on them is terrible. i disputed the wheels with paypal to get my money back and they are asking me to have a qualified third party certify them as "non gm wheels".
any ideas on how to go about doing this....does anybody work for gm or any wheel place that can help me out here????pretty much im looking for a short letter (with letter head) stating the facts on a gm wheel and how to identify it and what characteristics make it a fake....
any ideas would be appreciated.....Last edited by redz284u; 10-27-2006 at 07:00 AM.

I'm sure any dealership would be happy to confirm or deny their authenticy. That's about as good of a definite answer as you could get I think.

yea dude, you should have no problem getting a dealer to check them out and then just have one of the staff sign the letter

How far away from you does the person u bought them from live. Any honest person/seller should be willing to work something out. But if it's just some fuck trying to make a dollar drive to his place and beat his ass, u got ripped off, what else can u do cause ur not gonna get ur money back. I had a friend that got ripped off and ebay did nothing. Good Luck.

well here is where you are going to get screwed, paypal wont give you your money back, they are going to say they only give your money back if you NEVER recieved the item, since you got the item your claim will be filed as, yup you got screwed, no money for you. Id go after you credit card company/bank to refund you the money.

I have had two instances in the past year where I have received bad items. Both times, through Paypal, I have received full refunds. Get the letter signed by a dealership like said above. Get paypal involved. If this seller has a history of this, paypal will know. You need to be patient though, the process of receiving your money can take up to a month. Good luck.

thanks alot guys, i went to the dealer, the parts manager used to have a 02 camaro, and he also went for the z06 wheel look, needless to say, he hooked me up. gave me a letter, pic's, part #'s and all. sent it back to paypal, and they agreed to give me full refund.......
now i have to fight the shipping cost....150.00 they expect me to pay to get these back to the seller...imo he should pay for it for being crooked....but i dont think thats gonna happen....
maybe i should just count my losses here and just be done with it.....
this is my second instace with ebay that i purchase z06 wheels and they are crap. last time i had a local pick up, went and looked at the wheels and they were bent and cracked also, from hitting a pot hole, and the guy was like ohh they are not mine, im just selling them for some one....well i think im done with ebay..a replica set is nice if the chrome is imaculate, but a fake beat up pitted set is no where near what i wanted to buy....
p.s. will try to post pics later on, but if cant just imagine, pitted and foggy chrome, cracked rim on inside from i guess hitting a curb.

Call your credit card company and do what they call a "charge back". Your credit card company will know what this means. Basicly they tell the charging party to go F themselves.
good luck...

Did you pay with credit card?
If you paid with a credit card you could dispute the payment with them. Then contact the seller and see if he wants the wheels back. I just purchased 06 z06 wheels from ebay and am very happy with them for my ta I would recomend takeing a pic of the stamp on the gm wheels and sending it also. This way they can see the difference.
