my friend has a red and black what he says is a 1998 camaro ls1. Is there a differnce between the ls1 and the camaro ss. Also how do you tell the differences between a regular camaro and an ls1?

regular camaro is v6, z28 and ss are the same execpt 01,02, different intake. and only other thing is hood, and spoiler. rest is about the same except about 20 hp or so.

98's are nice,

98 and up have the LS1, 98 and up have the more flush nose and headlights. when all else fails open the hood and take a peek

All Z28s and SSs have the LS1 however, SLP converted the SSs and some of them made more power than the Z28s. You can usually tell because the SSs have another build sheet on the passengers door to tell what they did to it.

exhaust, lid, and rims mostly.

V8=LS1 IS a camaro ss or Z28
V6=3800 seriesII base camaro

The SS camaro has the same LS1 as the Z28 Camaro.

A regular camaro does not say Z28 and therefore its a 6 banger.
