    any bullmastiff owners?

I found a good deal on a 4 month old bullmastiff and am thinking of buying it. Just curious if anyone has any experience with the breed. I have 2 small children so that's definitely a factor but from what I've read they should be fine together.

I haavent ever had one . There was a show on Animal Planet called ' breed all about it .. They said they are good dogs , but the dog has to know "you are the man and he is the dog", also if you raise you kids with the dog they will bond very close to them... Hope that helps spme ....

That reminds me I`m gonna have to ask my dad how much money he just got from a Bullmastiff attack on him and his dog.

    I`m "not" joking.

The neighbors dog attacked his dog and him, My dads dog was on a leash, he just walked out his front door and the neighbors dog broke free from the owner and charged him attacking them on the porch.

Do not get such a large dog, particularly around kids.

I live in the country so neighbors are not an issue. I've also owned several breeds that were considered aggressive breeds with no problems so I feel comfortable with those types of dogs. It's all in how they're raised. I've had rotts, pits, and currently have a chow. All of those dogs wouldn't bite you unless you spilled gravy down one leg. Sorry to hear about your dad and his dog. I still haven't decided on what to do yet but everything I've read tells me this dog would be a good guard/family dog as long as you keep the upper hand on them. That's the same for any dog and I've always made sure to let them know I'm the alpha male in my house.

Not probably the type of info you'd want, but a female doctor that my lady knows was walking down a trail with her 2 bull mastiffs. A mountain lion was stalking them. Both dogs took off (LOL) leaving the lady behind and she got attacked, fortunately didn't get badly injured.
