Effect of Computer Tuning on 1/4 mile performance

    Recent Mods:

    Longtube Headers
    3" X-Pipe with Dynomax Bullets
Rear O2 sensors have been removed
Front O2 sensors have been replaced with Corvette sensor

I have not had a chance to have the computer retuned.

    Question:

How much will NOT having the computer retuned effect my performance in the 1/4 mile?

I can't wait to get to the track!

What other mods do you have? Tuning gains will depend on all your mods. I have seen everything from only a 1/100th second gain to a whole 1.2 second gain but it depends on the car, the tuner, how much the tuner actually does get into, and of course any guidelines you may want the car to still meet.

Did you put o2 sims in or get the rear o2's deleted? If not it is going to hurt performance and gas mileage.

Why would it do that?? Are the ECU's A/F parameters too limited to compensate for the mods with the stock O2 sensors??

Actually when you are WOT, you are in open-loop and the computer doesn't use the O2 sensors.

    I would get it tuned.

thanks for the replys guys. that is really a dumb question to ask cause it could be answered so many ways and there are so many different variables that will effect the car.

and as of now, no i dont have anything done with the rear o2's. they are just completely unplugged. to answer the other question, the only mods done are the headers and all the exhaust behind them. nothing else.
