Considering changing my college major.
Been in college for 2 years so far while going for a major in biological science. Since I'm starting to enter my JR. year I'm getting to the point that I have to make sure my major is what I want. To be honest I really don't know what I want my major to be, over the past year I have lost interest in the biology field. Still trying to find something to switch my major to but so far no luck. I have considered maybe something like a major in medtech or something similar. Any ideas/opinions?

It is the overworked blues. I would say if you have enough time invested in it keep toguhing it out. The reward will outwiegh this slump your in. It is only because you are spending so much time doing this its become dull.

You can't possibly lose by obtaining a BS in the sciences if you are planning to go on to a Doctorate.
If this is not for you, I would say change to Information Sciences. Then get your MCSE.
Starting salarys are $40k - $100k.

you could always change your major to fine arts. now THAT would be different.

You're better off with a degree in business, accounting or finance. I know a girl that graduated with a biology degree and was offered only two jobs in Texas one was harvesting tissue from cadavers in the Texas Medical Center and the other was working at a fisheries for the Texas Parks and Wildlife...the job was in deep east Texas forest.
The fisheries paid $26K starting and the cadaver job started out at $35K. She's now an adminstrative assistant working in the offices of a chain restaurant and she didn't need a degree for that...she wasted four years and $$$$$.
You should work as an intern at companies that would hire someone with that degree...that would be the best way to see if you want to change your degree plan.Last edited by 01LS1; 05-17-2006 at 04:40 PM.

Go into Chiropractic, you will still want to get a BS (which depending on the school you are going to you can obtain while getting your doctorate) so you can practice in most states. It’s a good job because the hours are good, weekends off (unless you want to see patients) and the pay is great once established. I start at Palmer College of Chiropractic (at the Davenport campus) here in July. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s expensive to go there and HARD/Stressful, they go in trimesters (14 weeks instead of 16) and if you take full load you will have 28+ credits every tri. Anyways, just thought I would give you a suggestion, since you have a lot of bio background it could help you out with some of the classes you be taking. The cool thing about being a Chiro is that you get to help people feel better with natural healing rather than just drugging them up. Good luck, hope you figure something out.
