Didn't know they did an article on this engine. It was on the dyno when Bischoff was building a 571 pontiac for my father.
It's unfortunate the article doesn't seem to mention Tony Bischoff much at all since in reality he is the one responsible for the power production of this engine. McCarty just designed the cylinder head based off the old Ram Air V castings but seems to be taking most of the credit here. Tony Bischoff is the one that picked the pieces, machined the foundation as well as all the machine work and port work on the heads since (they started with a raw casting), and performed his tricks to make the power.
I actually have a picture of that engine that my father took while it was sitting in the machine shop just off the dyno....
