How can I silence my exhaust at start-up?
Just as the title says....
I have the SLP Loudmouth and it obviously wakes up the neighborhood in the morning with a loud ROAR! Is there anyway to slip some type of silencer on the exhaust tips at start up to quiet her down?

It's called "Loudmouth" for a reason. I have the same problem, my neighbors know when I come and go unfortunately. My suggestions is to do what I did... Replace the LM with a muffler of choice and then get a cut out when you want to make some noise. Just my opinion.

Cali allows you to have LM's? Cutout's in Cali?
But yeah no chance of quieting it. They are by design loud. I'm surprised you pass emission in Cali with a LM.

No real fix that I am aware of, other than swapping out the system. An electric cutout is a great way to control the sound once you tone things down.

Get yourself a coan baffle. They slip into the exhaust stream anywhere you have a pipe joint. Can be installed/removed at any time. I've used them in the past to tone down systems.
Actually SLP used them starting in about 2001 when their optional dual/dual systems were deemed too loud to pass the drive by noise standards. Rather than redesign a new muffler, a simple coan was inserted in the I-pipe right before it entered the muffler.

The cut out is illegal, and you will find that out when you have to go to a "State test run facility", for a smog check, any "cat back" exhaust system is legal in California, however be aware that the police do not have to meter the vehicle for db anymore, the law was changed to read "at the officers discretion", which means if he thinks it is to loud, then the burden is on you to prove that it isn't. The law is tolerant up to 75 db for our year vehicle.
Good luck with that with a loudmouth resonator.

Black/ Silver- 98 TA WS6/ 01 C5 Corvette
Most people want their car louder not quieter. As others have stated the only way to quiet the loudmouth is to swap to a different muffler or do as fbj said. I personally like how loud my lm1 is with LTs.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
My neighbor calls my car his "alarm clock" as he knows when to wake up...when I start my car.
I have been stopped occasionally to be told my car is a little on the loud side...but sounds nice. I'm thinking about ordering a skip-shift eliminator so I can short-shift again to keep Johnny Law happy.
