Clutch
I have a pretty new Monster clutch and hydraulic system that is adjusted so the release is half way on the pedal but I notice when the clutch is pushed all the way to the floor and I gun the gas pedal the clutch smells like hell. Is this common? I would think the disc is fluttering between the two plates.

Is it possible you are overextending the clutch at that point, and it is forcing the disc back against the flywheel?

Clutch
I am not sure how the pressure plate can come back towards the flywheel with extra force or travel. I have one out of the car, I need to look at the finger geometry of the pressure plate.

Send a picture or two of the clutch out of the car. What does the flywheel look like ?

That is definitely not common. Sounds like the clutch is not fully disengaging.

So, now that you mention that again, are you saying if the clutch pedal is half-way off the floor and he revs it, it doesn't smell?

Say it was fully disengaged leaving a gap between the pressure plate and flywheel, what keeps the disc from flying onto one of the surfaces when revved? When the car is in gear, clutch to the floor, it starts to engage half way up on the pedal. This is a hydraulic system so there are not alot of adjustments. Everything in the system is new.

Well, you have the adjustment in the slave cylinder itself depending on whether you used a shim or not. Did you have to use a shim with the Monster clutch? I'm not familiar with their clutch set-up. I didn't think you needed one.
This is from Tick Performance regarding initial clutch set-up:
During your next clutch install, determine if your slave cylinder needs to be shimmed or not. To do so, you need to take two measurements:
Measurement "A" is the distance between the surface of the bellhousing that meets the transmission to the tip of the pressure plate fingers. To get an accurate measurement, the clutch must be torqued properly.
Measurement "B" is the distance between the throwout bearing surface to the transmission surface that meets the bellhousing. To get an accurate measurement, the slave spring must be removed and the bearing must be fully seated at the bottom of it's travel; resting on the slave's base.
Once you've got your two measurements, make sure that measurement "B" is ~1/16" to 1/8" LESS than measurement "A". If you come up with more than 1/8", add an appropriately sized shim between the slave and the transmission in order to get the measurements where they need to be.
If there is no difference between the two measurements, or if "B" is greater than "A", there could be a problem with clutch engagement which could result in premature clutch slip and eventually a total failure.

Your clutch is not fully releasing. Therefore the burning smell. One cannot ''overextend'' a clutch release, pushing it back to the flywheel.

Adjustment
Tick told me I might need a shim behind the slave. Like now they tell me. I wish there was a way of looking into the bellhousing to see the engagement.
