    vvt

I got the whole system from an 6.2(l92),(everything that counts as vvt) i got the cam, sprocket, timing cover...so my question is if i could install it in a gen III engine. Does the ecm have sonething to do with it or is it just installing the cam, sprocket...???
    Thanks.

    Here this may help some..

GM's Variable Valve Timing System Performance Test - Hot Rod Magazine

You'll need a donor PCM designed for a VVT as GM variable valve timing is controlled (phased) with a signal from the PCM.

Timing is changed @ an optimal time usually under a load only, leaving free rev timing unchanged.

Power gains will be notable, VVT will be a big difference from the old days of just slipping a lumpy cam into your engine.

Okay so could i just plug and play with the l92(IV GEN) ecm on an GEN III engine(example: 4.8 or 5.3)? I think the connectors are different. Or does there exist an ecm GEN III with vvt?

That question I cannot answer sorry.

I'd imagine there are other engine variables that would need considered.
