i picked up a couple tactical lights by "coast", ...they are LED, w/ focusing optics, ...light up good, w/ momentary switch, and for good price... to me the surefires, streamlights, etc. are way overpriced..

I have a Streamlight Stinger LED.... Have had it for 3 years of EVERYDAY, EXTREME condition use... No problems at all. Extremely Bright, 3 power settings, and strobe/disorient mode....
as for the overpriced.... You get what you pay for.

We sell Olights here at the store. I love them, from all the lights I see and have played with IMHO they are top quality.
I personally walk around with their T-20 which uses 270 lumens, has 3 levels of light plus the strobe. Battery life is amazing

You can sometimes find really good and rugged LED flash lights in the sporting goods sections of retailers..
I have one (with the name worn off lol) that uses 3-AAA batteries and 3-LED's.. Thing is very bright and the clip on it can smush a finger lol..
There are some very nice ones out there made of anodized aluminum..
As well as some cheap ones of the same make up..

I have a Fenix light on a rifle. It's a great light but I certainly don't abuse it.

I recommend the Insight HX150. It's not quite as bright as the OP is looking for, but has a strobe feature that is much more disorienting to a foe than constant brighter light, and it makes a very effective to signal in an emergency.
