shade tree smithin'
So I was given a royal gun works belgian side by side 12ga. sweet. missing a firing pin, and the extractor... and the wooden forend. I couldnt really locate any parts so I decided to try my hand at firing pin making. I found a grade 8 bolt and a chainsaw file and 3 spare hours by the fire.
I took it out and shot it with some modern birdshot load, barrels didnt split or blow the fuck up. Shot great. I admit, I did turn my head and shielded my face with my hand when I shot it.
bonus : gun, plus pic of my crotch... just for you guys.

Nice work, I love it when people do that stuff.
We have some old pin-fire pistols and rifles from the Civil war era and a local guy is making molds and then going to machine us some parts. One of them is much like what you have there. Its an old rifle that they thought was converted but it has a few pieces missing and since we have a book written from then in scale this gun smith/machine guy is making them for us.
So far he has gotten a few of our rifles to work and made some springs like the old V-style.
Kudos to you my friend.Keep it up!

That's a nice breakover you have there.
And the gun is cool too.
Good job on the fab work! Glad you're not dead!
