Wrapping Dash & door panels in vinyl?

I remember seeing a thread a while back of someone doing this and it came our real nice. My dash is faded, but no cracks so I was thinking that instead of painting it I would wrap it in vinyl. My question is how difficult is it? Will it be expensive? Should I take it to a shop instead to have them do this? Also if anyone has done this and you have pics I would really appreciate if I could see them. BTW I try searching for that thread but could not find it. Thanks again.

I have purchased vinyl from fabric shops to recover motorcycle seats. I think the big chain store is JoAnn Fabrics or something like that where I bought red vinyl for a Yamaha seat.
