Anyone ever been to China?

I just found out from work that I will be going there in January for a week.

Has anyone here ever been? Just trying to get some feedback from someone's personal experience about the environment.

I've heard from a couple people at work that it isn't so great...

Not sure what part yet.

i haven't...but my g/f is going on an art history trip there for 3 weeks next summer. i guess that the exchange rate is great in our favor. traffic sounds like a nightmare though.

I have a friend that has to go there for his job at least one week a month. He said besides the pollution in the larger cities, the worst thing is spitting. He said it has gotten a lot better, but for some reason it is considered ok just to hock a lugie in public on sidewalk or whatever. He said everyone does it. Really gross.

I've heard when you squat like that and don't sit on a toilet seat, it's actually better for you, gives you a faster/toxic releasing poop. Also heard when you poop like that, you don't sit there sweating and struggling for your turds to come out.

Sorry if that was gross which im sure it was, but thats just what i heard.

i spent a week in china in september. it was actually great. i thought it would suck, but i got blown away. the hotel i stayed in was awesome, it was a 4 star hotel, and only cost $60 a night. from what the locals told me most foreigners stay in really nice hotels.

the toilet in my hotel room was fucking robotic or something, it had 'rear cleansing', 'seat warmer', and 'power deoderizer' options:


i was doing work in an industrial plant. the bathroom had urinals, but if you wanted to poop you had to use this:


i did all my shitting in the hotel though, so i didnt have to worry about it.

the food is fucking awesome. if you have a chance, make sure you get a 'hot pot':


i was in a large city on the east coast, about a 2 hour flight north of shang hai. china is such a big country, different regions are completely different.
