My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
how do i meet these people?
I have one of those "approachable" demeanors. I can talk to pretty much anyone and the general public feels the same about me. So I went to have a radio installed at BestBuy. I was the only customer there and was the last one of the night. The guy told me his life story when I asked if he was going to the Calvalcade of Customs show downtown this weekend. He went on and on about how his grandpa took him off the streets, made him a man, bought him all kinda stuff, made him responsible for that stuff (ie: a new blazer @ 16, managing apartment complexes @ 18, said he owned a rad 72 monte with 24's
and TT402, which won numerous shows up and down the mississippi, went to UC on a football scholorship (didn't look like a ball player to me)). I mean, the guy was pitching me so much BS
i couldn't get a word in edge wise. Finally I said "so if you have all this money and why are you cruzing in some old blazer? Why are you working for bestbuy mobile?" He said "b/c that's my first car and i'll drive it till it explodes, i love that car." and "i wanna own a shop and do West coast customs style stuff"
SERIOUSLY! I just don't know what it is about me, I meet these kinda people all the time! i would say this guy tops my neighbor's friend with the "corvette" trans am

Kind of like the new guy in one of my classes whose oil burning '81 z28 with a rod knock apparently has a forged 350 (yes 350) stroker with a 125 DRY shot. At one point in the conversation he offered to sell me said motor and another he said it was blown. He also informed me that he could get me a 500 horsepower small block for 1k, he must be getting afr 235's for free I guess. Many other stories like this too, in high school noone knows shit

It sounds to me Jaison that you met the Lawdog/SleeperC5 of real life. The kind of guy who has to prove to anyone and everyone that he's king shit, for some reason. I'd have left the store man, radio installs are so easy.

Drop the approachable mindset, and step into dick mode. Its pretty easy to be a dick, and eventually the other person will save their dramasaga for the next "approachable" schmuck. Problem solved.

Here is one tip to being a dick:
Carry a set of ear plugs with you. When Gomer starts telling you his dramasaga, pull out ear plugs and insert them. That should establish your "dick" persona but even if it fails to do that, you will have Gomer tuned out regardless. Its a win-win situation.

Again, this is prevelant in my school. If your buddies' 2-valve 4.6 can't win against a car then a bugatti veyron or lambo is brought into the conversation. Nevermind the fact that the guy you're talking to has a camry or rides the bus. I need to try the earplugs technique..
