Tradition? The whole damn thing could have been avoided if the morons would get out of the 30's. Its a bunch of ignorant fucking pricks. I agree, I wish they would quit changing things....but the whole "south will rise again" thing is fucking stupid. They bring it on themselves.
Some call it tradition, I call it ignorance. I've been going to Ole Miss games since you could buy nose bleed seats and end up on the sideline b/c there was nobody there watching their sorry ass. I've yelled hotty toddy till I couldn't speak. I've been the idiot yelling "go to hell LSU" during the national anthem....But there IS a point where you should STFU and move on. THE SOUTH ISN'T GOING TO RISE AGAIN.

They didn't start the whole "South will rise again" chant until 2003, only After Khayat got rid of Coloniel Reb (during the summer when noone was around to oppose him). I have refused to spend money on any of their sporting events since 2003.
Should the students have been chanting, probably not. They were just doing it out of spite. If they'd left Coloniel Reb alone, let 'em play "Dixie" I think everything would have been better. I mean for God's sake, it's Ole Miss! It's not like it's a big secret. If they don't like it, then stay away or go to another school. I just don't see the point in changing over a hundered years of school tradition for a few bucks of out of state tuition.

You really are ignorant.....I hate that I live in MS b/c of people like you.
I hated to see the colonel reb thing too, but the whole "if they don't like they don't have to go here" mentallity is one we need to get away from. If the biggotry and racism that runs rampant under the surface were allowed to rule Ole Miss would fail not only at every major athletic event but also as an institution.

I'm sure you agree fully with the Southern Poverty Law Center. Morris Sleaz has done just about everything possible to erase history from Ole Miss. Congrats on the success, let's dig up the University Grays next. They were ignorant too.
Man look it's Heritage NOT Hate. Hate had nothing to do with it, the only hate is coming from the people trying to change and rewrite history. I would rather see a college keep it's dignity and not be the best in every athletic event. I Don't hate that I live in Mississippi, I'm proud of it.
I guess you think the state flag is hateful too. The vote on that was 70-30 in favor of keeping it. If the actual citizens of the state were allowed a part in the decision making that went on at U of MS (which seems only fair since their taxes fund the school) the traditions would remain without all the drama.
For the record, I think the Klan side show was stupid. I think raping the history from a school is also stupid.Last edited by BdAsBrd01; 11-22-2009 at 08:56 PM.
