Black- 2001 WS6 Trans Am
what GM parts should I buy for my "shelf stock"
Well, being used to 1st gens and 2nd gens, I have learned to scoop up all of the replacement parts I could EVER need... I am quite anal about my GM parts.. When you work work aftermarket crap, you come to respect original GM parts... So PLEASE, everybody post up what has failed, broken or is prone to keep breaking............here is what on my list now>> 2001 WS6
.
window motors -both
fiberglass door panel skins
exterior door handles
door mioldings
rear bumper cover
front bumper cover
headlight switch assembly
multiple bronze gear sets for headlights
all weatherstripping
interior door panels
all interior switches
console parts
door emblems
ram air stickers
door handle trim pieces
rear hatch solonoid/ lock assembly
both fenders
I know some of the younger crowd will think I am nuts. But after you spend HOURS to modify aftermarket parts so they might fit, you will understandLast edited by gateman; 09-07-2009 at 07:07 AM.

How about Hub Caps and the Lug nut caps. Those are both plastic and prone to fading and mishandling. I wonder if I should use the term Center Cap instead of hub cap...
What about leather parts that wear, like the steering wheel or the shifter knob? Can those parts last in storage? or will they just dry rot like tires?
Also, what I have read over the years to use the aftermarket window motors from Auto-Zone, because of a life time warranty and a better design.
